Motor City

I was bred in a city full of greats, go and check your history - Stevie, Marshall, next they’ll mention me - the best in the game MJ scream victory and I ain’t talking Jordan when I say I’m on my sixth ring

The kid do sick things to mics (Gordy) - put the kiddies to bed, these babies is boring - home of the hustlers being broke is foreign - take two of these and call me in the morning - Whip game proper - kick game proper, plus a thick dame sick frame - she need doctor and I’m the one to revive the game - no Kevorkian

but still we ride the same - on that suicide shit, a due or die chick from the Motor City - burner wit me move when I spit - or collapsed lungs done no breathing - Detroit the motor capital cold all seasons

Miz Korona

Miz Korona, born Paula Smiley, is a performing artist, photographer, and activist hailing from Detroit, Michigan. Early on, she was groomed for a life of creative expression by her mother and biological father, a founding member of the 1970s R&B group The Floaters. Watching him instilled the importance of confidence and showmanship in her. Eventually, Korona discovered her gift as a lyricist and storyteller through close mentorship with local producers and earned experiences in cyphers across the state, on stages from St. Andrew’s Hall and the Hip Hop Shop to the Lush Lounge. Miz Korona is counted among an impressive list of now independent superstars from Detroit to appear in the film 8 Mile, but stands out against her peers in the iconic “lunch-truck” scene. With her name attached to an Oscar-winning film which also cemented her status as an emerging artist in hip-hop, Miz Korona capitalized on her hard- earned reputation and well-deserved acclaim as a lyricist to secure opening performances for national touring acts including Scarface and Run DMC. Miz Korona has released several independent albums in the time since, as well as appeared alongside creative peers for collaborations with her band The Korona Effect. She’s performed during international festivals, tours, and art exhibitions, such as D-Cyphered: Portraits by Jenny Rishner at the Detroit Art Museum. Her growth as an artist has extended to photography through her business Trigger Finger Visuals, where she is the principal photographer, fashion designer, and producer, under the moniker Gldn Grl Prod. Miz Korona uses these extensions of herself to create music that is spiritually conscious while still pleasing listeners with lyrics that are hard-hitting, timely, and timeless.
