How do you connect to place?
I grew up with a good sense of direction for most of my life. I sometimes use my proprioception in my mind to find streets and avenues and alleys that I need to look for, especially when I am walking towards the exact location. When I stay in a certain place, I try to connect with friends that can connect me within the certain place, or the certain space. I am not too much of a “sundial guy,” but sometimes I look at the sun's horizon to help enhance my sense of direction.
What are you noticing as of late?
I noticed some more and more stiff neck issues—it is like I am a tree that is trying to die off or disintegrate. Thinking that the trunk of the tree is the spine, and when it degenerates, the tree itself can have issues.
What is calling you?
My guess is mainly music is calling me—almost a little bit like the forest of trees that create their own music when birds chirp their own songs. Music is one of my biggest euphorias.
I used video animation effects to try to make the whole video seem something like a forest, focusing on reds and purples.
The dance I am doing is in Butoh-dance style. I play two characters—a tree moving in the forest, and a wanderer walking around and dancing a bit in the forest.
